Iran: cement exports down 20%

Iranian cement and clinker exports have fallen by 20 per cent over the past Iranian year (1394), an official said on Tuesday. The secretary of the Association of Cement Industry Entrepreneurs, Abdolreza Sheikhan, said that Iran's exports of cement and clinker shrank to nearly 15Mt from 18.5Mt a year ago. Buzzi Unicem reports that during the 1Q16 group cement sales were up 2.8 per cent from the first quarter of 2015, reaching 5Mt. The volume trend was favourable in the United States (+16.3 per cent) and fairly stable in central Europe and Italy. Martin Marietta Materials, one of the top five US aggregates producers, has announced a first-quarter turnover 16.2 per cent ahead at US$734.0m and EBITDA rose by 67.3 per cent to US$152.6m. HeidelbergCement's cement sales volume rose five per cent YoY for the period from January to March 2016, reaching 17.6Mt for the quarter. Cementos Molins posted profits of EUR15.36m for Jan-Mar 2016, up 1.7 per cent YoY. However, sales reached EUR130.69m, 10.2 per cent down when compared with 1Q15.
