Tanzania: Tanga to inaugurate second clinker line02 August 2016, Published under Cement NewsTanga Cement plans to commission its second clinker line this month, more than doubling output to 1.25Mta. The Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment, Charles Mwijage, expects to inaugurate Tanga’s project on 16 August. The company, which trades as Simba Cement, invested US$152m into the expansion. The new clinker line will have a capacity of 775,000tpa, which added to the existing 500,00tpa capacity will create an overall clinker capacity of 1.25Mta. |

Bolivia: Itacamba’s highest production figures06 July 2016, Published under Cement NewsBolivian cement producer Itacamba Cemento has reported its highest ever production figure of cement, reaching 20,006t in June 2016 and breaking its previous record of 18,764.65t reported in August 2007. The firm intends to begin production at its Yacuses plant towards in the second half of 2016. Clinker production at the plant should begin in November and cement production in December. |

Carthage Cement to start production September 201322 August 2013, Published under Cement NewsTunisia's Carthage Cement is expected to produce its first bag of cement on 2 September, according to Riadh Ben Khelifa, managing director of Carthage Cement. The cement plant represents an investment of TND836m (US$510m), of which TND500 as loans by 14 banks. Carthage’s MD added that the company is currently awaiting permission to establish a bag manufacturing plant as well permits to use alternative fuels (RDF) and derive part of its electricity from wind sources. |
