Colombia cement market expands 10.2% in June

Colombia’s cement dispatches rose 10.2 per cent YoY in June to 1.0121Mt as building companies and contractors increased their demand by 25.8 per cent. Cement production reached 1.0292Mt, up 4.9 per cent when compared with June 2014. In the first half of 2015 the Colombian cement market expanded by 6.6 per cent YoY to 6.0674Mt. Senegal cement sales up 0.7% in 5M15

Demand for cement in Senegal edged up 0.7 per cent YoY to 1,432,100t in January-May 2015, according to national Planning and Economic Study Directorate. Production in the first five months of 2015 increased 9.6 per cent to 2,444,100t when compared with 2,230,800t noted in 5M14. Output was buoyed by a 26 per cent YoY rise in exports, which surpassed the 1Mt mark at 1,050,400t during the five-month period.

Cement consumption in Spain reached 5.6Mt in the first half of 2015, reflecting an 8.6 per cent increase YoY, according to the latest data from cement association Oficemen. Moroccan cement consumption fell a further 6.3 per cent YoY to 1.16Mt in June following a similar decrease in May. This brings cement demand over the first six months of this year down 1.3 per cent to 7.3Mt, with the decline mainly attributed to a slow real estate market. German cement consumption is expected to decline by 1.6 per cent YoY in 2105 to around 26.7Mt, as local cement producers no longer anticipate being able to compensate for lower market demand recorded in the first quarter of this year.
