Cement sales in Chile edge up 2% in September

Chilean cement sales have increased by two per cent YoY in September 2021. Volumes were reported at 334,603t in September 2021, up from 328,184t in September 2020, according to the Chilean Chamber of Construction (CChC). In the January-September 2021 period sales advanced 1.2 per cent YoY to 3.214Mt when compared with 2.65Mt.

Argentina’s cement consumption increased 6.6 per cent YoY and 2.8 per cent MoM to 1,141,043t in October 2021, according to AFCP, the country’s cement association. Portland and blended cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, advanced 4.9 per cent YoY to 10.1Mt in August 2021, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The cement markets in Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Illinois were particularly buoyant and accounted for 40 per cent of deliveries. Cement sales in Vietnam fell by a quarter YoY but edged up by five per cent to 3,684,047t in September 2021, according to data published by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The Iranian cement market expanded 34 per cent to 5.72Mt in September 2021 when compared with August 2021, when demand reached 4.27Mt, according to the Iranian cement association. Cement production in Iran reached 6.01Mt in September 2021, up 25.5 per cent MoM, while clinker production stood at 6.83Mt, representing a MoM increase of 34.4 per cent MoM. Cement consumption in Spain advanced 4.4 per cent to 1,305,861t in September 2021 when compared with the equivalent period in 2020, according to Spain's cement association, Oficemen. Cement dispatches in Peru advanced 14 per cent YoY and three per cent MoM to 1.238Mt in September, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. Gabon’s cement market contracted by 10.1 per cent to 197,246t in the 1H21 from 219,386t in the equivalent period of 2020, according to data by the country’s Ministry of Economy. In the first quarter of 2021 sales reached 102,823t but a drop to 94,423t was reported for the 2Q21.
