Egypt's El Nahda Cement has decided to partially suspend the main line at its 5500tpd Qena plant for nearly six months. The actions come as a result of a decrease in sales and an increase in clinker stocks, representing stagnant assets if not exploited, according to local media sources. Kohat Cement Company Ltd (KCCL) has informed Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) that the Board of Directors have appointed Aizaz Mansoor Sheikh as Chairman and Nadeem Atta Sheikh as CEO for a term of three years commencing from 8 July 2019. Kohat Cement has a capacity of 2.677Mta at its Kohat plant in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.

HL Cement (Malaysia) extends closing date for takeover

HL Cement (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Hong Leong Group) has extended its takeover offer for the remaining shares in Tasek Corp Bhd to 22 July 2019. HL Cement (Malaysia) said the conditions of the takeover remained the same at MYR5.50/share and MYR5.50 per preference share. HL Cement owned 97.887m shares or 80.8 per cent in Tasek Corp Bhd on 18 June when the takeover offer was made, and on 5 July it owned 103.02m shares or 85.04 per cent.

Tochikcement in Dushanbe will be transferred to a new location, according to Tajikistan Newsline. Cement capacity at the plant is currently 1.1Mta. The new plant, equipped with modern production technology, will be built near the raw material quarry in Kharangon, Varzob district. To implement the plant the Tajik government and Tochikcement recently signed an investment agreement for the construction and commissioning of the cement plant.

Hanson UK (HeidelbergCement group) has completed the GBP24m investment programme at its Padeswood plant, near Mold, Flintshire, Wales.
