Shree Cement commissions 2.5Mta of grinding capacity

India’s Shree Cement has commenced commercial production at its new 2.5Mta grinding unit in Seraikela-Kharsawan district, Jharkhand. The fresh capacity is one of a number of new grinding projects that the company set out to commission by 2020. Last month, it also announced plans to add 3Mta of capacity to its unit in Pune .

Peter Donkersloot Ponce, general manager of Caribbean Cement Co (TCL Group), has announced that he will resign his post effective from 31 July. The position will be filled by Yago Castro Izaguirre, the current general manager of Arawak Cement Co (also TCL Group) in Barbados. Emami Group is reportedly holding talks with UltraTech Cement and private equity firms KKR and Temasek Holding to sell assets from its cement business, Emami Cement, which is valued at INR50bn (US$725.4m). The Kolkata-based company is looking to reduce debt and concentrate on its core business. Cemenco has rewarded its distributors in Liberia at an awards ceremony held in Freeport, Monrovia. The ceremony included awards for 20 distributors for their performance in 2018, with silver, gold and platinum categories. Cemencon is currently supporting President George Manneh Weah's Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity in Liberia project. Sephaku Cement set to increase prices this month

South Africa’s Sephaku Cement (Dangote Cement) is expected to pay between ZAR35m-40m (US$2.4-2.8m) each year following the introduction of a new carbon tax on 1 June. In 2018 Cemex advanced its share of cement exports from its Mexican plants to six per cent.
