La Araña cement works to install new crusher

Spain-based La Araña cement plant, owned by FYM-HeidelbergCement, has received approval from the town’s planning department to build a new slate crusher. The EUR3m project is expected to reduce noise and dust emissions from the operations. The new equipment will replace two existing crushers, which are around 60 years old. The assembly of the crusher will start at the beginning of next year with commissioning to follow in summer.

Raysut Cement establishes partnership for Somaliland plant

Oman’s Raysut Cement Co has established a partnership with MSG Group to set up a grinding unit in Somaliland, an autonomous region of Somalia. The 1Mta unit is expected to be constructed in Berbera, Somaliland, at an investment of around US$40m. Raysut reportedly has 55 per cent of the share capital of the project, according to Reuters.

South Valley Cement posts loss in 1Q19

Following reports that its total profit fell 54 per cent in 2018 , Egypt-based South Valley Cement has announced that it made a loss in the first three months of 2019. The company has recorded a net loss of EGP38.45m (US$2.3m) in the 1Q19, compared to a net profit of EGP5.9m in the corresponding period of 2018.

Cementos Melon gets go ahead for Punta Arenas grinding plant

Chile's Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) has passed the environmental impact assessment (EIA) for Cementos Melón (Brescia Industrial Group) to construct the company's new grinding unit in Punta Arenas, Magallanes region. Lafarge Hungary announces plant investment

Lafarge Cement Hungary has announced that it will invest HUF2bn (US$6.99m) for upgrades at its plant in Királyegyháza, southwest Hungary, by the first half of next year. The investment will boost the share of secondary fuel used at the plant from 60 to 80 per cent and reduce CO 2 emissions by 10 per cent. Last year, the company generated a revenue of around HUF19bn.

PPC reports revenues of ZAR10.4bn in FY19

PPC has reported revenue up one per cent in the FY19 ended 31 March, rising to ZAR10.4bn (US$772.7m), while EBITDA increased four per cent to ZAR1.9bn. PPC's overall cement volumes rose by one per cent to 5.9Mt.
