Cemex terminals achieve Energy Star Challenge

Two Cemex USA terminals have achieved the US Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star® Challenge for Industry by reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy conservation. The terminals, located in La Mirada and San Diego (CA), each reduced their energy consumption by more than 10 per cent. Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) has signed a cooperation agreement with Al-Safwa Cement Co of Saudi Arabia for the recycling of carbon ash and the use of oils and oil residues as an alternative fuel source. The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), Australia, is lending AUD30m to ResourceCo to build two new plants that will transform selected non-recyclable waste streams into Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF).
