FLSmidth records 3Q19 order intake down 36%

FLSmidth's order intake for the 3Q19 amounted to DKK4571m (US$704.5m), a decline of 36 per cent compared to the 3Q18. The performance is explained by a sharp decline in the capital order intake that was partly offset by a record-high service order intake, combined with the exceptionally strong comparative quarter in 2018 that included two large cement plant orders worth a total of about DKK1.9bn. FLSmidth adjusts 2019 EBITDA guidance

FLSmidth revises its financial guidance for the full-year 2019. Revenue is now expected to be in the range of DKK20-21bn (US$2.95-3bn). The EBITA margin is now expected to be around eight per cent down from previous estimates of 9-10 per cent. FLSmidth’s order intake for the second quarter of 2019 reached DKK4.95bn (US$751.5m), a modest decrease of two per cent YoY. Orders included a large cement plant in Morocco and a significant mining order in Australia. The order backlog stood at DKK16.76bn by the end of the quarter, up 16 per cent from the 2Q18. Savannah Cement is currently undertaken a KES5bn expansion of its grinding plant at Kitengela, Kenya, according to the company’s MD, Ronald Ndegwa.
