FLSmidth 2Q operating profit hit by one-off writedown

FLSmidth reported a drop in operating profits for the second quarter hit in part by a one-off writedown. EBIT fell to DKK 349m (US$57.78m) in April-June from DKK404m in the second quarter last year. FLSmidth has today signed an agreement to acquire the privately owned company Decanter Machine, Inc, a United States based manufacturer and supplier of centrifugal technology to the global minerals industries. FLSmidth & Co fell the most in eight weeks in Copenhagen on the outlook for slowing demand for its products as China’s expansion cools, according to Bloomberg reports. The shares slid as much as four per cent, the biggest decline since June 1. The Directors of Wasabi Energy have announced that the company's Kalina Cycle licensee, FLSmidth has secured a contract to install its second Kalina Cycle power plant utilising waste heat from a major cement plant. FLSmidth has affirmed its outlook for full-year 2012 as a strong order intake in 1Q confirms growth expectations and positive outlook.
