San Miguel Corp to up investment spend

Philippine conglomerate San Miguel Corp said on Monday it is raising planned investment in cement manufacturing to almost US$1bn with the addition of three new cement plants to two previously announced facilities. President Ramon Ang outlined the investment at a briefing following the listing of San Miguel's PHP33.5bn (US$720m) worth of newly issued preferred shares. KHD signs contracts in Russia

 ZAB Zementanlagenbau GmbH Dessau (ZAB), Dessau, Germany, a subsidiary of KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG (KHD), Germany, has signed contracts totalling over EUR100m for equipment and services for a new cement plant with a production capacity of 4500tpd clinker. The new plant will be built in the Northern Caucasus region of Russia.

Itacamba's new plant on track for 2H15 opening, Bolivia

Itacamba Cemento's new plant in Yacuses, near Puerto Suarez, Santa Cruz, is set to open in the second half of 2015, according to local press reports. The new facility will have a capacity of 870,000tpa of cement and primarily serve the Santa Cruz market in eastern Bolivia.

Dangote Cement Plc has inaugurated its 1.5Mta cement grinding plant in Douala, Cameroon. In addition, the company laid the foundation for a 200m terminal in Base Elf area, of the Douala Port. New licences to be issued for Upper Egypt

Egypt's Ministry of Industry and Trade is to grant new licences for cement factories in Upper Egypt governorates next September, according to local press reports. Minister Monir Fakhry Abdel Nour said during an interview with the "60 Minutes" radio show on Radio Masr that the new licences target meeting future needs of local market for cement until 2020. Anhui Conch has reportedly signed an agreement to construct a 2Mta cement plant in Ulyanovsk, Russia. Located on the Volga River in the west of the country, Ulyanovsk lies 893km from Moscow. The JSW Group has proposed to build a 2.5Mta slag-based cement plant in Salboni, Bengal. Should everything proceed as planned, the Mumbai-based conglomerate may start the project next year. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Punjab government and Chinese cement company Yantai Baoqiao Jinhong for the establishment of a cement plant, according to reports by the Business Recorder (Pakistan).
