NCL Industries sees 24% decline in production

India’s NCL Industries has reported a 24 per cent decline in cement production to 371,000t in the 2QFY19-20, falling from 488,000t in the year-ago period. Cement dispatches also decreased by 25 per cent YoY to 367,000t from 488,000t. Elsewhere, the company's production of cement boards rose 12 per cent YoY to 18,503t for the second quarter, however, dispatches declined nine per cent to 15,140t.

Pakistan's exports to India fall 41% in FY19

Pakistan’s cement exports to India fell 41 per cent to 0.716Mt in the FY19 ended 30 June, with no exports to the country taking place between March-September. The decline is the result of a 200 per cent duty set by the Indian government, according to The Daily Times. Furthermore, revenue from overall exports declined 13.2 per cent YoY to US$42.15m in the first two months of the current fiscal year.

India’s Bharathi Cement has commissioned a 10MW solar power plant at its 5Mta cement works in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. The facility is expected to help cut the company’s overall energy costs by reducing its reliance on thermal power.
