Saudi firms set to launch cement factories in Yemen

Three Saudi firms are working on the final arrangements for launching three cement factories in Yemen at a cost of US$760m, the September 26 website reported. The investments will be commissioned in December this year and the first quarter of next year in the provinces of Hadramout and Abyan in the south. Cemex  said on Wednesday it sees a US$446m loss from the sale of its Australian assets and could also challenge a Mexican tax reform in the courts. Rourkela-based Shiva Cement is raising nearly INR80 crore through bank loans to part finance its INR165-crore expansion plan which aims at nearly quadrupling capacity to 2.3Mt. Indonesian cement company PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa expects the country’s domestic cement consumption to grow six per cent in 2010, finance director Christian Kartawijaya said on Wednesday. Cemex to officially open new terminal, Latvia

Cemex is set to officially open its new terminal at the Port of Liepaja in Latvia on December 3 2009. The new terminal and the related infrastructure are intended to create new opportunities for the sale of Latvia-produced cement abroad. India’s Aditya Birla Group said on Tuesday cement shipments in November rose 15.3 per cent from a year earlier to 2.93Mt from a year earlier.
