Egypt hopes to increase cement supplies

Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry are taking new measures to increase the supply of cement in the Egyptian market, the ministry said in an emailed statement. The measures include facilitating procedures for cement importing and regulating the market prices, said the statement. BaselCement’s Achinsk new line launched

BaselCement has launched cement production of a second line with the capacity of 700,000tpa at Achinsk Cement in Krasnoyarsk Region’s town of Achinsk, the firm announced. Investment in the project has yet to be announced. The company has installed larger capacity as demand for the factory’s cement is growing, Achinsk Cement claims.

More jobs to go at Barrington cement works, UK

Cemex has announced that there will be more redundancies in its logistics section, based at the Barrington cement works. Manufacturing of cement at the Barrington plant ceased at the end of last year, with over 80 workers losing jobs. Since then, the site has been used as a depot for deliveries to the firms customer across the East of England. However, this will stop at the end of July, with up to 11 drivers being made redundant.

Madras Cements to go for captive thermal plants, India

Madras Cements Ltd will invest INR280 crore to set up 65MW of coal-based captive power plants at two of its cement production facilities. The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) has threatened to close down Tororo Cement Factory over pollution. NEMA executive director Dr. Henry Aryamanya-Mugisha said the managers had ignored instructions to mitigate dust pollution and ensure the occupational safety of the workers. Hoang Thach Cement line to be put into operation

The Hoang Thach Cement Company, Vietnam, is planning to its third cement production line costing over VND2.4trn (US$142.011m) into operation in August, the People newspaper said Thursday. The new production line will have the capacity to produce 1.2Mta of cement, helping raise the Hoang Thach cement plant’s capacity to 3.5Mta, reported the newspaper. This year, the company expects revenues of VND3trn.
