India’s cement production is estimated to rise 13.3 per cent in FY10 to 212.38Mt, junior trade minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told parliament in a written reply on Monday. Siam Cement may spend US$1.1bn to acquire a cement stake in Indonesia. Erwin Aksa, the CEO and owner of PT Semen Bosowa, said Siam Cement is eyeing a stake in his cement company, which is based in South Sulawesi. Peru’s largest cement manufacturer, Cementos Lima SA says it has regained market share this year after losing ground following the entry of Cemex into the Peruvian market two years ago. Cementos Lima said Monday in a filing to securities regulator Conasev, that in May, it had 43.5% of the Peruvian market. The Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) is entering the cement business by announcing its plans to set up a 5Mt integrated plant and a grinding unit in Maharashtra with an investment of INR2250 crore.
