Sinoma buys assets from Zhengda Cement for Rmb142m

China National Materials Company said its subsidiary Sinoma Pingxiang has agreed to acquire assets from Zhengda Cement for Rmb141.5 million in cash. The assets include certain equipment and machinery of Zhengda Cement, which also holds a 49% equity interest in Sinoma Pingxiang.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd has commissioned a 2.25Mt greenfield cement project in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, according to a press release from the company. Mr Gautam Dalmia, Joint Managing Director, Dalmia Cement, lighted the kiln and launched the operation. India’s Ambuja Cement Nov shipments rise 8.8 per cent

Ambuja Cements Ltd, India’s third-largest cement maker, said on Wednesday its shipments in November rose 8.8 per cent to 1.48Mt from 1.36Mt a year ago. Production rose five per cent to 1.47Mt from 1.4Mt, it said in a statement. Holcim owns about 46 per cent of Ambuja Cements.

China’s Yunnan province cuts power tariff for some industries

Yunnan province in southwest China has cut power tariffs for some industrial users during the December-March period, the Xinhua news agency reported, Tariffs on hydropower electricity will be cut by CNY0.06/kW hour during the period for 10 types of industrial users, including cement companies aluminum, copper, tin, lead, zinc, steel and ferroalloys.

ACC November shipments rise

India’s ACC Ltd.’s  cement shipments in November rose 9.5 per cent to 1.73Mt from 1.58Mt year ago, the company said in a statement late on Tuesday. The company said production rose to 1.70Mt from 1.59Mt a year earlier.

Ash Grove Cement Co is laying off two-thirds of 68 workers at an old, high-cost plant in eastern Idaho to save money amid an economic downturn that’s dented the construction industry.
