Lithuania’s only cement manufacturer Akmenes Cementas said on Friday that its sales revenue for the first nine months of this year jumped by 29 per cent YoY to LTL232m (EUR 67.2m). Binani Cement announced a substantial drop in standalone net profit for the quarter ended September 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the company declined 43.99% to Rs 268.10m from Rs 478.70m in the same quarter previous year. China’s cement output growth has decelerated in recent months due to weak demand and cement producers production cut to stabilise prices. Statistics show that China produced 1.01bn tons of cement in January-September, up 6.9 per cent YoY in comparison with 7.35 per cent rise in the first eight months this year.
