Dalmia Cement April shipments up nine per cent YoY

Indian cement producer Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd said its April cement shipments rose nine per cent to 266,000t from 244,000t in the year ago period.   Cement production in the month rose 13.4 per cent to 262,000t from 231,000t, it said in a statement on Monday.

The construction boom in the region has led to high demand for cement. This has been compounded by supply shortages, causing rapid price increases.   The price of cement has surged to sh27,500 from sh25,000 in Kampala. Iranian company to set up cement factory in Syria

According to local press reports, the Iranian Ehdas Sanat Company (ESC) has recently won a tender for setting up a cement factory with the capacity of 1 Mta in Syria with US$200m value. This was the first success in establishing a cement plant abroad. Ehdasse Sanat Corp (ESC) was founded in 1987 with the objective of playing a major role in Iran’s Cement and Building Materials Industries.

PT Semen Gresik (SMGR.JK), Indonesia’s largest cement maker by assets and sales, saw first quarter net profit rise 56% on year because of increased sales, a company spokesman said Tuesday.   Net profit for the first three months of the year rose to IDR515bn from IDR330bn a year earlier, Gresik spokesman Sunardi said.   Sales rose 24% to IDR2.6 trillion from IDR2.1 trillion a year earlier on a 15% increase in domestic cement sales volume to 3.85Mt.

ACC Cement Production at 1.79Mt in April 2008

ACC Ltd has announced Cement production and sales figures for the month of April 2008. Cement production in April 2008 was at 1.79Mt, while sales were at 1.73Mt. Production was at 1.77Mt and sales were at 1.74Mt in April 2007. Cumulative cement production between January-April 2008 stood at 7.03Mt while Cement sales stood at 7.02Mt. Whereas between January-April 2007, production stood at 6.69Mt and sales at 6.68Mt.

Pakistan cement sales up 25 per cent in July-April

H.E. Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Alshihhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy, affirmed recently that cement plants across the country have pledged their commitment to maintaining cement prices at Dhs17 per bag.   H.E.
