All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) released local/overseas dispatches data for May and the 11MFY19-20. May 2020 Total cement dispatches (domestic + export volumes) were only 2.63Mt in May 2020 against 4.12Mt in May 2019 representing a 36.1 per cent drop. Colombian cement market contracts 76% in April

Dispatches of grey cement in Colombia declined 75.6 per cent to 241,900t in April 2020 from 991,100t in April 2019, according to the national statistics office, DANE. Quarry accident at Thai Boon Roong Cement

Two men have been crushed by falling rocks after an explosion at the quarry of Thai Boon Roong Cement in Kampot province, Cambodia. The accident happened at La’ang commune’s La'ang village in Dang Tong district. District deputy police chief Men Ly said the victims, 29-year-old Kun Ral and 33-year-old Nheb Sarun, were cousins from Kandorl commune’s Damnak Trach village in Teuk Chhou district. Both men worked for Thai Boon Roong Cement Co Ltd.

Azerbaijan sees 9% fall in cement production

Cement production in Azerbaijan fell 8.7 per cent YoY to 911,400t in the first quarter of 2020, according to the State Statistical Committee. Ready-mix concrete production rose 9.9 per cent to 461,400t, while prefabricated structures were down 4.3 per cent to 13,500m 3 . In total, construction materials worth AZN203.9m (US$119.9m) were produced in in the country between January-April 2020, a 4.5 per cent decline compared to the same period of 2019.

Kyrgyzstan produced 230,600t of cement in 1Q20

Kyrgyzstan produced 230,600 of cement in the first quarter of 2020, according to the country’s National Statistics Committee. In January output reached 28,500t, followed by 58,600t in February and 143,500t in March. When compared with the 1Q20, when 352,400t was produced, output declined by 34.6 per cent YoY.

US cement market expands 5% in March

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 5.1 per cent YoY to 7.7Mt in March 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Associated Pan Malaysia Cement (APMC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malayan Cement, reportedly released the majority of its employees a few weeks ago, according to The Edge.
