Ultratech Cement operations at Kovaya stopped due to flood

Ultratech Cement Ltd has announced that Heavy rains in the Amreli district of Gujarat have resulted in floods in the area. As a result, operations at the Company’s cement plant (Gujarat Cement Works) situated at Kovaya in Amreli has been stopped since September 25, 2007. The Company is assessing the losses, if any. However, the plant is adequately covered under insurance.

Turk cement firms to import 30% more coal by 2009

Turkey’s cement producers will import 30 per cent more coal by the end of next year compared with 2006, the chief coal purchaser for Turkey at concrete maker Cimpor Yibitas said.    Turkey is the third largest cement manufacturer among European nations, Askin Soyer said. New cement plant built in Quang Ninh province

Ha Long cement joint stock company, a joint-venture between Song Da construction corporation and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, is building its 2.02Mt plant.     The 5.26 trillion VND (328 million USD) plant’s facilities will be built in Hoanh Bo, Quang Ninh.     A clinker grinding facility will also be built in Hiep Phuoc industrial zone, Ho Chi Minh City.     The plant is expected to be operational in 2008.

Basel Cement has restarted cement deliveries from its Achinsk cement plant, the company’s first cement works in Russia.
