Valderrivas enjoys 28% hike in 2006 net profit

Cementos de Portland Valderrivas, Spain’s largest cement manufacturer, said its net profit last year grew 28.3 per cent to EUR175.9m as revenues increased 49.9 per cent to EUR1.466bn on the back of acquisitions.    Demand for cement in Spain remained high due to a massive public works and property construction boom.

The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has chalked out a Rs 8 crore project to build cement roads at Transport Nagar, Loha Mandi, Gadhi Adda, Luniyapura, Warehouse Road (near Hathipala) and Chandrabhaga. “People frequently complain that warehousing and transport sectors in the City have not achieved their true potential owing to bad roads. Cimpor raises bid for MISR Cement

Cimpor has outbid Egypt’s ASEC Cement in a battle to take over Egypt’s  Misr Cement Qena.     Cimpor Inversiones SA, a Spanish subsidiary of Cimpor, offered 80 Egyptian pounds ($14.05) a share for up to 100 percent of the 30 million shares in  Misr Cement Qena, a stock exchange statement said on Sunday.     The offer, which values  Misr Cement Qena at 2.4 billion pounds, outdoes an offer of 75 pounds a share made last week by ASEC Cement, a subsidiary of Citadel Capital.     The Portugues...

Lafarge posts strong FY profit

PT Semen Gresik Tbk has targeted to grow by 30% in term of net profit this year. Chevre Investments Ltd. of Cyprus purchased 97.29% of Novoroscement, one of Russia’s largest cement producers, Aton Capital quoted Vedomosti as reporting, citing the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service (FAS). Bulgaria is Titan’s top performer in 2006

Cement companies have reduced cement prices by Rs 5-12 per 50-kg bag after government’s straight instructions to manufactures to cut prices within a week or face action.
