Cement price should be Rs 300 a bag: APCMA chief

Assam-based Barak Valley Cements (BVCL) plans to set up a 6000tpd cement manufacturing facility in either Orissa or Jharkand. Bamburi Cement has posted a pretax profit of 3.8 billion shillings for the year ending December 31, 2006. The cement retail prices have crossed Rs 260 and are being sold at Rs 270 per 50kg bag, it was learnt on Tuesday. Holcim Ltd is reported planning to construct in Volsk (the Saratov region) a cement plant to produce around 3Mt of cement under dry technology on the basis of one of cement deposits - Krasniy October in Volsky district of the Saratov region. Azerbaijan Investment Company intends to acquire a 20% stake in Garadagh Cement, the largest cement producer in Azerbaijan.
