Cemento Melón submits new plant for approval

Chile’s Cemento Melón group, controlled by France’s Lafarge, has submitted to the national environmental commission (Conama) an environmental impact study (EIS) for its new cement milling plant in Region V, newspaper Diario Financiero reported. The plant would require a US$20mn investment and will complement the cement supply provided by Cemento Melón’s La Calera plant, reaching a production of some 300,000tpa. Konya Cimento to invest in cement mill construction

Turkish building materials producer Konya Cimento will invest Euro 12m in the construction of a new cement mill, the company said in a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) on January 3, 2006. Construction will start on January 16, 2006 and is to be completed in June 2007. This work will also include another Euro 1.9m in the construction of a cement silo. The two projects will be financed entirely through Konya Cimento funds.
