Blended and Portland cement shipments in the USA and Puerto Rico advanced 5.9 per cent to 8.7Mt in April 2019, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). The largest US markets were Texas, California, Florida, Ohio and Georgia, which accounted for a combined share of 42 per cent of such shipments. The Argentine cement market contracted by 11.4 per cent YoY to 860,631Mt in June, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The operation of a cement plant in Pyongyang, North Korea, has reportedly been suspended for three months due to lack of electricity, according to the Daily NK newspaper. Large-scale manufacturing production data shows negative growth in Pakistan during the 10 months between July 2018 and April 2019. Russia sees record cement prices in May

In Russia the average selling price for cement in the domestic market in May 2019 reached RUB3730/t (US$56/t) and RUB3740 for cement with additives, according to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service. This is reportedly a record figure for cement prices. When compared to the previous month, the overall price growth rate stood at one per cent. Prices increased 4.9 per cent in the Far Eastern federal district (FD) but fell in the Southern FD.
