Spassktsement ups output 23 per cent

Vladivostok: Spassktsement increased product output 23 per cent last year to 585,000t, report sources at Vostoktsement, of which Spassktsement is part.  Spassktsement, located in the Primorye territory, prepared 632,200t of clinkers last year, seven per cement more.  The company is a major Far Eastern producer of both packaged and unpackaged Portland cement. It plans to ship 729,800y of product this year.

Boral Ltd has despatched the bidder’s statement for its offer for Adelaide Brighton Ltd. Turkish cement maker Ergani Cimento ceased production, due to financial difficulties, company general manager Metin Oral said on January 30, 2004.  The move follows the decision of Turkish banking watchdog to freeze the accounts of Ergani Cimento a month and a half ago. Although grey cement sales barely expanded during December 2003 (0.4 per cent when compared to December 2002), annual sales were up by 6.2 per cent as Colombian cement makers sold 5,440,764t of cement during 2003, according to figures from the ICPC, Colombia¹s cement association.
