The price of locally produced cement in the UAE has increased for the third time since the beginning of 2003 and currently stands at 165 UAE dirhams (US$45/Euro36.2) a tonne, against 155 dirhams (US$42.2/Euro 34) a tonne previously, it was reported on December 23, 2003. Dyckerhoff names Wolfgang Bauer chairman

The consumption of cement in the 11 months to November was up 4.3 per cent from a year earlier at 42.9Mt, industry association Oficemen said. The association estimated total consumption for the year at a record 46Mt, a rise of 4.3 per cent over 2002. Output in the 11 months was up 5.7 percent from a year earlier at 41.2Mt.

Mexican cement production rose 3.52 per cent in the first nine months of 2003, rising to meet higher construction demand especially from housing and infrastructure. According to figures released on Friday by the National Cement Chamber (Canacem) production reached 23.9Mt, up from the 23.1Mt in the January-September period in 2002.

Cemex releases 4Q guidance forecast

Mexican cement giant Cemex expects to reach sales revenues of US$1.7bn for the fourth quarter this year, translating into full-year sales revenues in excess of US$7bn, the company announced in a Q4 forecast statement.  Free cash flow is expected to exceed US$210m, for a total US$1.1bn for 2003.
