Spanish cement manufacturer Corporacion Noroeste will invest Euro 9.4m in a new mortar plant in Boqueixon, Galicia region, northwestern Spain.  The construction works will begin in February 2003. About US$50m will be invested by a ste-run Chinese engineering group in the installation of a new cement factory at Kicombo, in Angola's Central Kwanza-Sul Province, according to local news sources. The Trade department's decision to lower by P5 the duty on cement is a good compromise for both local manufacturers and consumers.  Industrialist and consumer advocate Raul T. Chinfon plans US$250m investment

Vietnamese cement manufacturer Chinfon Haiphong has said it will invest an extra US$250m to expand its operations.  The investment will go to a 500,000 tons/year clinker grinding station in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park in HCMC and a second production line at its existing factory in the northern port city of Haiphong, said general director Tony Liu. The Cement Manufacturers Association(CMA) said India's total cement sales were 9.84Mt in the month of December, 2003, up 3.5 per cent from 9.51Mt a year ago.
