FDI Pakistan touches 53% growth in FY18

Pakistan's cement and construction industry received foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$766.3m during the 12 months of FY17-18 (July -June), compared to US$501.9m received in corresponding months of last fiscal year. This translates a YoY growth of 53 per cent, says the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). Peru’s cement market expanded by 5.7 per cent YoY to 0.865Mt in June 2018 and when compared with the previous month, largely stable, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. Of this total, national deliveries fell by 2.1 per cent YoY to 0.76Mt while imports advanced 147.5 per cent YoY to 0.106Mt. Sudan's cement factories cut production by 50%

Fuel shortages and frequent power cuts have forced cement factories in Sudan's River Nile state to reduce their production by more than half. Atbara Cement plant has cut its cement production from 120,000tpm  to 60,000tpm, said a company spokesperson. Raysut Cement Co reported a 14.4 per cent increase in revenues in the first half of 2018. Revenues advanced to OMR42.8m (US$111.3m) from OMR37.4m in 1H17. Cement demand in Kenya has fallen to 1.4Mta in the second quarter of the year, according to a report from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
