Ukrainian cement output up 13% in May

Ukraine’s cement producers increased their production by 12.9 per cent YoY in May, reports the Ukrainian News Agency. Output reached 1,024,000t and when compared to April, this represents a rise of 42.2 per cent. In April cement production reached 720,000t, a decrease of 12.5 per cent YoY. However, in the first five months of 2018, cement production fell 6.2 per cent YoY to 2.985Mt. In 2017 cement production edged up by 2.3 per cent YoY to 9.307Mt.

Uruguayan producers sees 18% rise in sales

Total cement sales in the 1Q18 in Uruguay totalled 219,000t, representing an increase of 18 per cent YoY. Of this total, 74 per cent were sold in the domestic market while some 26 per cent were exported, according to the Chamber of Industry (CIU). India’s cement producers, along with other sectors such as the captive power industry, will be able to take part in the fourth auction round of coal linkages, Coal India Ltd (CIL) announced. Pakistan cement industry receives US$54.1m FDI

Pakistan’s cement industry has received a net foreign direct investment (FDI) of US$54.1m in July 2017-May 2018, up 63 per cent when compared with July 2016-May 2017 when FDI reached US$33.3m, according to data published by the Pakistan’s central bank, the State Bank of Pakistan. Overall investment including other sectors slipped from US$2.5bn to US$2.47bn over the same period.

Moroccan cement sales fell by 4.8 per cent to 5.76Mt in the first five months of 2018 from 6.05Mt in the 5M17, according to the APC, the country’s cement association. Cameroon's four main producers plan expansions

Cameroon's Mira Cement, a new entry to the market, has announced a project to construct a 1Mta plant in Douala.
