Moroccan cement demand fell 12.5 per cent MoM in December 2016 and slipped 0.7 per cent YoY to just over 14.5Mt in 2016, according to Morocco’s Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. Qatar: QPMC to inaugurate cement storage silos in 1Q

Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC) will inaugurate its cement storage silos project in the 1Q17 as part of its “efforts to ensure sustainable supply” of cement in the country. The government auction of the 3B1A Limestone Block in Zayal, Nagaur, India, has awarded the block to Emami Cement, which paid INR51bn (US$746m) for the 125t concession. Building materials prices have increased sharply in Egypt since the country floated the pound, according to industry sources. They said the price rise could threaten projects, force contractors out of the market and increase property prices by 30 per cent. Bestway Cement Co and Pakistan Railways have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for transporting from Sindh to Punjab. Under the MoU coal would be transported from Port Qasim and Bin Qasim Railway Station to Ushman Khattar and Pind Dadan Khan Railway Station. Portland and blended cement shipments by US producers to the domestic market in October 2016 reached 8,012,653t, according to preliminary figures of the US Geological Survey (USGS).
