Volume growth in the Indian cement market increased by 12-18 per cent in the quarter ending March 2016 compared to the 4.7 per cent drop seen in the corresponding quarter last year. Ghana: bulk cargo jetty for Tema port

A newly-built bulk cargo jetty has become operational at the Tema port, Ghana, possessing the capacity to hold hour larger vessels at any given time. The jetty will prevent bulk cargo vessels having to stay on anchorage for long periods due to inadequate space. Cement sales in Cyprus rise 15% in May

The sale of cement on the domestic market rose 15 per cent in May to 43,887t compared to the respective month of 2015 after rising 40 per cent in April, the statistical service said. In January to May, total sales of cement on the domestic market, which reflects construction activity, rose 33 per cent to 170,684t, Cystat said in a statement on its website.

Cement dispatches in Pakistan totalled 35.5Mt in the period July 2015 to May 2016, up 10.55 per cent on the corresponding period of last fiscal year, the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has announced. Iran: cement exports exceed 15Mt

In the year March 2015-2016 Iran produced more than 60Mt of cement, resulting in 15.9Mt of exports to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar. Iranian cement production accounted for approximately two per cent of global production in the given year, making the country the seventh-largest cement producer in the world, slipping from fourth position in the previous year.  Iran aims to increase its production and exports to 120Mt and 32Mt, respectively, by year end 2020.
