UltraTech Chhattisgarh mine plan hits hurdle

The government of the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh has cancelled a no objection certificate (NoC) to UltraTech Cement for a limestone mine in Raipur district. The state government on Tuesday announced it would cancel the certificate required by the cement producer to commission the operation. Spain’s cement market has expanded by 5.2 per cent YoY to 10,573,572t between January-November 2015, according to Oficemen, the country's cement association. ITAC announces final anti-dumping duties

South Africa has imposed final anti-dumping duties on Portland cement originating in or imported from Pakistan, ranging between 14.29 and 77.15 per cent, effective 18 December 2015. Supremo Cimento, part of the Secil group, on Thursday opened its 1.8Mta Adrianópolis plant in Paraná state, Brazil, local press have reported. Semen Padang: 2016 Indonesia sales forecast up 6%

Cement demand in Indonesia is expected to rise by 5.5-6 per cent in 2016, according to Semen Padang's marketing director, Pudjo Suseno. Sales on the island of Sumatra, where Semen Padang is headquartered, are forecast to advance 16.6 per cent in 2016. In the first 10 months of 2015, dispatches reached 10.4Mt, up 2.3 per cent YoY. Semen Padang also expects to maintain exports at 4-5 per cent of total output in 2016.

Nepal approves Chinese US$140m cement plant

Nepal has endorsed a foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal by China’s Huaxin Cement Co to establish a cement plant in Nepal. The US$140m cement works project is in partnership with Narayan Cement Co. In July, the country also approved a US$360m FDI proposal by China’s Hongshi Holdings Ltd to build a domestic cement works in partnership with Nepal’s Shivam Cement.

Pakistan gypsum shortage concern
