Caribbean Cement Co is apologising cement shortages in Jamaica. Hardware stores in Mandeville and Christiana in Manchester and Santa Cruz in St Elizabeth had no or limited cement available. However, the shortage is only expected to last a week. "We have begun to restart the kiln after a 40-day shutdown and we will begin to stabilise supply very soon. Argentina's cement consumption down 5% in February

The cement market in Argentina contracted by 4.5 per cent YoY and 6.5 per cent MoM to 895,938t in February 2023, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. In February 2022 demand reached 938,072t while in January 2023 it stood at 958,230t. Uzbekistan produced 14.6Mt of cement in 2022, reports UzDaily, giving a per capita production figure for the year of 415kg. This compares to 1770kg in Turkey, 519kg in China and 280kg in the USA. The Kyrgyz cement industry produced 2.666Mt of cement in 2022, according to the Eurasian Economic Commission. This represents a YoY increase of 7.1 per cent.
