Pakistan: APCMA demands checks on smuggling of Iranian cement

The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) has requested the government  take measures to stop the smuggling of Iranian cement into the country to safeguard the domestic cement industry. The Gloria Group, which controls Cementos Yura and Industrias Cachimayo, plans to build a new cement plant in Cusco, southeastern Peru, to meet the demand of an expanding market in the south of the country. Indian cement prices saw corrections in most regions in November, with the central, eastern and northern areas witnessing the steepest falls, the Economic Times of India reports. State-owned steel maker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL) is set to proceed with a joint venture cement grinding unit, to make use of the slag generated by blast furnaces and fly ash, according to sources. Vietnam produced 51.3Mt of cement in the first 11 months of this year, down 5.4 per cent from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office said.
