Colombian cement sales in January reached 868,400t, up 14.2% than in January 2011. In this month 823,3000t were shipped to the domestic market, which represented an increase of 11.7%. Afrisam settles cement cartel complaint, South Africa

South African cement producer Afrisam has concluded a settlement agreement with the Competition Commission in which it admitted that it took part in a cement cartel and agreed to pay an administrative penalty of ZAR125m (US$16.7m). Cement production in Vietnam is estimated to have reached 7Mt in the first two months of this year, down 14 per cent YoY, data from the government’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said in a monthly report released today. The government of Azerbaijan has said that by 2014 the country will be exporting 25 per cent of the cement it produces as new capacity comes on-stream in the coming years. Lafarge-Strabag complete test runs at new Hungary works

Lafarge and Strabag have successfully completed a test run at their Kiralyegyhaza cement plant in south west Hungary which they completed last autumn, Lafarge Cement Cement Magyarorszag managing director, Frederic Aubet, said at a press conference.
