Russian cement producer, Pikalevskiy Cement, part of the Eurocement group, produced 86,710t of cement in February – 0.5 per cent above its target. Meanwhile, cement shipments for the month totalled 88,915t, 2.7 per cent above the target plan.

Akmenes sales increase 5%, Lithuania

Akmenes Cementas, Lithuania’s sole cement producer, posted a five per cent rise in sales for the first two months of 2012 to LTL13.4m (EUR3.88m) from LTL12.8m in the same period last year. India reports rise dispatches

Indian cement dispatches registered 16.29Mt in February 2012, an increase of 9.8 per cent on February 2011, data from the Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA), shows. In terms of month on month (MoM) growth, February dispatches edged ahead to 16.29Mt from 16.25Mt in January 2012. Production, meanwhile, reached 16.21Mt last month, representing an 8.9 per cent YoY increase (14.89Mt in Feb 2011). Bahrain urges producers to work at capacity

The government of Bahrain has urged cement importers and local producers to operate at full capacity to satisfy growing domestic demand. Argentina dispatches decline MoM

Cement dispatches from Argentina (including exports) during February 2012, reached 783,872t, representing a Month on Month (MoM) decline of 13.3 per cent compared to the previous month, data from he association of Portland cement manufacturers (AFCP) showed. Compared to February 2011, dispatches were down six per cent.   Domestic consumption meanwhile reached 763,164t during the month, down 14.5 per cent on the previous month and a reduction of 6.9 per cent compared to February 2011.  

Brazil February sales up 9.8%

Brazilan cement sales in February 2012 rose 9.8 per cent to reach 5.2Mt, latest data from Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento, shows. For the first two months of 2012, dispatches were 590,000t compared to 546,000t in the first two months of 2011. Cement sales for the rolling 12 months (March 2011 to February 2012) were up 7.8 per cent to 64.8Mt, representing an increase of 7.8 per cent on the same period of the previous year.

Myanmar plant to improve Gresik distribution network

High court halts Lafarge plans to close Frangey site, France

The French High Court has blocked Lafarge’s plan to close its plant in Frangey, northern France until 25 November 2012.
