Unacem seeks loans of up to US$490m

Union Andina de Cementos SAA (UNACEM) plans to start talks with banks for up to US$490m in loans to refinance existing US$-denominated debt and other corporate purposes. Peru’s cement plants supplied 790,000t of cement to the domestic market in July 2018, up 1.8 per cent YoY and four per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Domestic deliveries were supplemented by 80,600t of imports, down from 106,000t reported in the previous month. In addition, 50,000t of clinker was imported. Peru’s Cementos Pacasmayo saw its revenues rise 2.3 per cent YoY to PEN287.5m (US$87.8m) in 2Q18 as sales volumes of cement, concrete and precasts advanced 1.9 per cent YoY to 0.534Mt on the back of higher sales to medium-sized companies and the public sector. Peru’s cement market expanded by 5.7 per cent YoY to 0.865Mt in June 2018 and when compared with the previous month, largely stable, according to the latest data from Asocem, the country’s cement association. Peru’s cement market remained largely stable in May with consumption edging up by 0.6 per cent YoY to 0.778Mt and by 2.5 per cent from 0.759Mt the previous month, according to the latest data by Asocem, the country’s cement association. Peruvian cement producer Unacem reported a 53 per cent fall in net profit to PEN157m in the first quarter of 2018. Unacem’s domestic dispatches decreased 0.6 per cent YoY to 1.199Mt. However, revenues increased by 1.1 per cent YoY due to a higher price realisation. Peru’s cement market expanded by 13.5 per cent YoY in April 2018 as cement deliveries reached 0.817Mt, according to the latest data from the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cementos Pacasmayo SAA has announced a 12.8 per cent YoY increase in revenue in the first quarter of the year, rising to PEN315.3m (US$97.58m) from PEN279.5m. The positive result has been partially attributed to a 7.8 per cent increase in sales volume of cement, concrete and blocks. The company also recorded a 37.3 per cent surge in net income to PEN29.8m. Peru’s cement consumption rose 1.9 per cent YoY to 816,000t and one per cent MoM from 824,000t in February 2018, according to the national cement association, Asocem.
