Peru’s November cement dispatches remained stable MoM at 928,981t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, YoY figures show a 3.6 per cent rise. Peru: Pacasmayo Piura to come online in July 2015

Cementos Pacasmayo has invested US$190m in its new Piura plant, Peru, and civil works have been almost completed. “The new plant is a project that we have started more than two-and-a-half years ago. Peruvian cement producer Union Andina de Cementos SAA (UNACEM) confirmed that it has completed the purchase of Lafarge’s cement operations in Ecuador. Peru’s cement market remained stable in October as domestic sales slipped slightly from 967,000t in October 2013 to 965,000t, according to Asocem, the country’s cement association. However, local producers saw a more marked YoY fall in output from 944,000t to 983,000t. Cementos Pacasmayo reported a YoY drop in net profit of 17 per cent for 3Q14 as cement dispatches fell due to the deceleration in Peru’s economy. In the July-September quarter, the company’s profit fell to PEN40.5m (US$14m) from PEN48.8m in 3Q13. Net sales fell six per cent YoY to PEN316.2m from PEN336.4m in 3Q13. Peru: Cementos Pacasmayo to rebound in 4Q14

Peru’s Cementos Pacasmayo is expected to see a two per cent YoY drop in output volumes in 3Q14, according to investment bank JP Morgan. Cement dispatches in Peru rose 3.7 per cent in September to 904,840t, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Including exports, dispatches reached 946,762t. For 9M14, total domestic sales remained stable at 7.6Mt, edging up 0.4 per cent when compared with 9M13. Some 0.2Mt of exports were dispatched from the Latin American country in the period. Peruvian cement makers slumped on concerns of slowing building materials sales while the government scales back infrastructure spending. In August domestic dispatches in the Peruvian cement market edged 0.75 per cent down to 908,553t when compared with the same month of 2013, according to Asocem, the country’s cement producers’ association. Cement exports reached 30,083t during the period. Production advanced 2.44 per cent to 958,712t. Cement dispatches in Peru reached 845,907t in July, representing a 3.9 per cent decline YoY, according to Asocem, the country's cement producers' association. In the year to date, the latest figures reflect a 0.11 per cent increase YoY while output in domestic cement plants edged up 0.66 per cent to nearly 6Mt. Exports in the first seven months were up 0.64 per cent, surpassing the 5.8Mt mark.
