Peru's cement demand up 2% in August

Peru’s cement association, Asocem, reported a 2.3 per cent YoY rise in domestic deliveries from 0.838Mt in August 2016 to 0.857Mt in August 2017. Cement imports remained largely stable at 43,800t while clinker imports reached 86,000t. Total cement consumption in the Latin American country reached 0.901Mt, up 2.2 per cent from 0.882Mt in the year-ago period and 15.6 per cent MoM. Argentina sees 7% rise in August demand

Cement consumption in Argentina increased 7.4 per cent to 1.122Mt in August 2017 from 1.044Mt in August 2016, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. The organisation also noted a 10.3 per cent rise MoM from 1.017Mt in July 2017. Pacific Cement output expected to rise by over 50%

Cement production at Pacific Cement Ltd, Fiji, is forecast to increase by more than half following the company’s upgrades, according to the company’s CEO, Sowani Tuidrola. “The mill production will greatly increase as it will go back to 100 per cent of which at this point we are producing at around 18tph and we will go back to about 25tph,” said Mr Tuidrola. Paraguay’s Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) saw its sales increase 12 per cent YoY in August as it sold 1,286,339 bags of cement in the country. In August 2016 the cement producer sold 1,148,529 bags. In the year to date, 8,745,627 bags were sold. In 2016 INC sales reached 13,202,803 and the company expects to surpass this figure this year. In July some 1.041Mt of grey cement were dispatched in Colombia, an increase of 12.6 per cent YoY, according DANE, the country’s statistics institute. Market expansion was the largest in Nariño where cement dispatches rose by 91.4 per cent YoY, with Caldas and Boyacá also noting considerable increases of 57.6 to 49.9 per cent, respectively. Dominican Rep cement demand slips two per cent YoY in 1H17

Cement consumption in the Dominican Republic fell by two per cent to 2,089,935t in the first half of 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Adocem. In 1H16 demand reached 2,132,312t. Local cement sales increased 5.5 per cent in value to RDS8.516bn. Output rose 0.5 per cent from 2,599,031t in 1H16 to 2,612,099t in 1H17. Between April and June, around 17.6 per cent of production was exported.

Azerbaijan cement production up 24% YoY in 7M17

Around 1.578Mt of cement were produced in Azerbaijan in the first seven months of 2017, representing a YoY increase of 24.1 per cent, according to the Azerbaijani state statistics committee. First-half of 2017 data indicate that local producers control 99 per cent of the market with an output of 1.29Mt. Imports during the six months reached 14,000t, with a value of US$2.9m.
