Colombia's cement market contracts 14.4% YoY in Oct

Cement consumption in Colombia fell 14.4 per cent to 0.994Mt in October 2016 from 1.162Mt in October 2015, according to the latest figures by the country’s statistics office, DANE. Domestic cement production in October reached 1.076Mt, down 11 per cent YoY. In the first 10 months of 2016, domestic dispatches saw a 5.2 per cent drop to 10.077Mt when compared with 10.632Mt reported in October 2015. Cement production reached 10.388Mt, down four per cent YoY.

Vietnam 10M16 output up 15%

Vietnam’s cement production in the first 10 months of 2016 is estimated to be 64Mta, up 14.9 per cent YoY, according to the government-run General Statistics Office. In August Peruvian cement demand reached 0.868Mt, representing 4.3 per cent decline YoY, according to Asocem, the country's cement association. Cement dispatches in Argentina increased by 6.7 per cent YoY in August, according to preliminary figures published by the Argentine cement association, AFCP. The domestic market required the supply of 1,042,862t, up from 977,469t in August 2015. Colombia saw its cement market contract by 19.7 per cent YoY in July to 924,900t, according to the latest figures by Dane, the country’s statistics office. A round 68.2 per cent of this total was delivered as bagged cement and 31.8 per cent in bulk. Vietnam is estimated to have produced 50.6Mt of cement in the first eight months of 2016, a 15.2 per cent increase from the same period last year, according the the government-run General Statistics Office. Sri Lanka’s cement production edged up by 19.7t to 1.04Mt in January-May 2016 and imports were up 18.4 per cent to 1.88Mt.
