Athi River Mining (ARM) plans to set up a cement production factory in South Africa.

The project is part of the company’s move to boost its revenue by nearly one-fifth, ARM chief executive Pradeep Paunrana has said.

The company has already acquired limestone minefields in South Africa. Construction of the plant is expected to start in two years.

“We will begin the project after completing the Tanzania one in 2012. Our target date for production (in South Africa ) is 2013,” said Mr Paunrana.
