Up to 750 former workers of Tororo Cement in Uganda have petitioned President Yoweri Museveni for unpaid termination packages, totalling UGS84bn, 25 years after they were laid off.

Each of the 750 workers was entitled to UGS11m, a joint total of UGS8.25b in packages, which has accumulated to UGS84bn after it accrued interest.

The 750 were part of the 1,000 workers whose services were terminated on January 3, 1985. But only 250 of the 1,000 employees were paid.
