China-based Gansu Hengya Cement Co will participate in a new 1.2Mta cement plant in the Kattakurgan district of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, according to a report by Trend News Agency.
The project, which will be implemented in 2019-21, represents a total investment of US$340m and will be carried out in two phases. The first 1.2Mta line will cost US$220m and is scheduled for launch in 2020. A second 1.2Mta line will be added at a cost of US$120m and is due for commissioning in 2021.
The plant is expected to produce 480,000t of M600 cement, 480,000t of M500 white cement, 480,000t of M500 grey cement and 960,000t of M400 cement. Exports are forecast to be 136,000t of M600 cement, 336,000t of M500 white and 336,000t of M500 grey cement as well as 672,000t of M400 cement.
