Ciments de l’Afrique (CIMAF) has ordered an MVR vertical roller mill from Gebr Pfeiffer for its plant at Keur Moussa, Senegal. This marks the first such mill to be installed in the African country.

The vertical roller mill of the type MVR 5000 R-4 will be used for raw material grinding. It will be equipped with a latest generation SLS 4000 VR classifier and will grind 470tph of cement raw material to a fineness of 12 per cent R to 0.09mm.

West Africa has experienced strong growth in cement demand over the past decade, leading to the construction of a number grinding plants along the coast between Senegal and Nigeria. By expanding cement production, CIMAF hopes to help meet this demand and reduce the region's dependence on cement imports.

The contract is being handled by the Chinese general contractor CBMI. The MVR mill is expected to be commissioned in the first half of 2024.
