Cement consumption in Portugal in February 2024 advanced by 13.4 per cent, compared to the same period a year earlier, according to the Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industries (AICCOPN). Consumption for the month came in at 646,000t.
In the opening two months of 2024, the number of licences issued for new construction or rehabilitation works of residential buildings in Portugal declined 0.9 per cent, compared to the same period a year earlier, reports The Portugal News. Over the same timeframe, the number of licences for new constructions also fell, down 12.4 per cent YoY to 4811 dwellings. However, new housing credit issued by financial institutions saw a 26.1 per cent expansion in January and February this year, coming in at a total of EUR2321m.
