Cement traders are seeing price hikes despite stable fuel prices, according to Ghana Business News.

All three grades of cement produced by Ghana Cement (Ghacem) have seen an upward trend. A bag of Super Cool cement increased from GHS82 (US$5.95) to GHS88 while Super Rapid now sells at GHS95, up from GHS87. Super Strong cement is now supplied at GHS105 from GHS95.

The price of iron rods has also been reported to have increased from GHS6500/t to GHS700/t or more.

Meanwhile, Ghana's statistics agency highlighted that inflation has increased to 25.8 per cent in March, up from 23.2 per cent in February. Combined with the continued decline of the cedi against the US dollar to GHS14.42 by April 2024, inflation and higher transport costs contributed to a higher cost of living in the west African country.
