Vietnam's total cement export in 2024 reached 20.288Mt in 2024, according to data by the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). The country's cement producers shipped their product to 48 countries with the top 10 accounting for 83.5 per cent of exports.
Of the cement export total, the country exported 7.074Mt of cement to the Philippines in 2024, making the archipelago the largest cement export market and considerably ahead of the USA, which imported 3.788Mt from Vietnam. The Philippines accounted for 34.9 per cent of total cement exports while the USA accounted for 18.7 per cent.
Vietnamese cement exports to Singapore totalled 1.958Mt (9.7 per cent of total cement exports) while export shipments to South Africa accounted for 1.012Mt (five per cent). Malaysia imported 0.749Mt, followed by Australia (0.531Mt), the UK (0.478Mt), Guatemala (0.463Mt), Honduras (0.449Mt) and Mauritius (O.447Mt). Smaller but significant volumes were also exported to France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, Peru, Nicaragua, Madagascar and El Salvador
Clinker exports
Clinker exports reached 9.564Mt in 2024 as domestic cement manufacturers exported clinker to 15 countries, said the VNCA. The top five destinations accounted for 93.5 per cent of total clinker exports.
Of this total, 5.502Mt or 57.5 per cent to Bangladesh to supply its cement grinding units. Taiwan came second at some distance, importing 1.16Mt or 12.1 per cent of Vietnam's total clinker exports.
The Philippines imported 0.945Mt (9.9 per cent), Malaysia 0.926Mt (9.7 per cent) and Chile 0.404Mt (4.2 per cent). Minor clinker volumes were also exported to Peru (0.178Mt), followed by Angola, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Belize, Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong, Laos and the USA.
