JSC Uzbekistan Railways and China Energy International Group Samarkand Cement discussed the current state and development of cement transport by rail, reviewing operational results for 2024 and outlining strategic targets for 2025, reports Uzbekistan Daily.

In 2024 China Energy International Group Samarkand Cement utilised 734 covered wagons, 30 hoppers and 1227 standard wagons to deliver its products to both the domestic market and for export. 

Going forward the company plans to increase exports to 3500 covered wagons (equivalent to 250,000t) and supply 2000 covered wagons for the domestic market in 2025. In addition, the production and distribution of approximately 900,000t of cement products are planned.

A key focus of the meeting was the establishment of stable logistics chains to improve competitiveness in the Afghan market and strengthen the position of Uzbek cement.
