Iran’s cement market expands 17% in August

Iranian cement demand increased 16.6 per cent to 4.98Mt in August 2022 from 4.27Mt in August 2021, according to the Iranian Cement Association. Domestic cement output picked up by 2.7 per cent YoY from 4.79Mt to 4.92Mt while clinker output increased 10.6 per cent YoY from 5.08Mt to 5.62Mt in August 2022. Larestan plant switches to gas

To reduce the burning of mazut, an eco-unfriendly fuel, at the Larestan Cement Plant in Fars Province, Iran, the works has now been connected to the national gas grid. A 35km-long pipeline will supply the plant with 20Mm 3  of gas each year, reducing the burning of mazut by 25Ml annually, reports the Financial Tribune. Mazut is a low-quality heavy fuel oil containing 2-3.5 per cent sulphur, often used in power plants and similar applications. 

Uzbekistan reduces imports by 25% in 7M22

In the January-July 2022 period Uzbekistan has imported 1.3Mt of cement, with a value of US$52.2m. In terms of volume, this represents a 24.5 per cent YoY drop from 1.721Mt in the 7M21, reports Asia-Plus. Of this total, 533,000t was exported by Tajikistan, which is the largest importer into Uzbekistan. Other sizeable volumes originated in Kyrgyzstan (385,000t) and Kazakhstan (353,000t). Iranian cement demand reached 5.36Mt in July 2022, according to the Iranian Cement Association. This represents a YoY increase of 34 per cent when compared with July 2022, when domestic dispatches were 4Mt. Cement demand in Iran reached 5.8Mt in June 2022, edging up slightly when compared with 5.78Mt of cement sold in June 2021. The Iranian cement market contracted 11.6 per cent YoY to 5.11Mt in May 2022 from 5.78Mt in May 2021, according to the Iranian cement association. Iranian cement demand hits 4Mt mark

Cement consumption in Iran reached 4Mt in April 2022, according to the Iranian cement association. The country produced 6.99Mt of clinker, of which it exported 0.79Mt. Cement production stood at 4.56Mt, which was mostly destined for domestic markets although 0.42Mt was exported.

Cement demand in Iran stood at 5.72Mt in March 2022, according to the Iranian Cement Association. The domestic output of 5.67Mt of cement and 6.33Mt of clinker was sufficient to supply the home market as well as meet overseas demand through exports of 0.312Mt of cement and 0.853Mt.

Iran's cement market expands 5% MoM in February

Iranian cement consumption reached 4.43Mt in February 2022, supplied entirely by the domestic industry, according to the Iranian Cement Association. This represents a 5.2 per cent increase when compared with January 2022. While cement production stood at 4.43Mt (+5.2 per cent MoM), clinker output reached 4.83Mt (-7.6 per cent MoM). The country exported 1.084Mt of clinker and 0.326Mt of cement in February 2022, representing MoM increases of 33.8 and 35.8 per cent, respectively.

Cement producers in Iran produced 4.21Mt of cement and 5.23Mt of clinker, according to the Iranian Cement Association. They supplied the domestic market with 4.23Mt while clinker and cement exports reached 0.81Mt and 0.24Mt, respectively.
