Iran faces higher transportation costs for exports to Iraq

Iran is facing difficulties in its cement exports to Iraq, including issues with costs, weight of exports and transportation, according to Ali Mohammad Bod of the Tehran Cement Co and cited by Trend News Agency. “The volume of cement exports has been reduced while the volume of clinker has increased," he said, because the price of clinker is based on the supply and demand. Iran’s Qeshm works exports 2500t of cement to Somalia

A consignment of 2500t of cement was exported by Qesh cement plant, Hormozgan, Iran, to Somalia, according to Hormuz Amiri, head of development and trade at Qeshm Free Trade Zone. Iran sees cement exports up, clinker exports down

Iran exported 5.48Mt of cement and clinker during the first five months (21 March-22 August 2019) of the Iranian year, according to the Secretary of Iran’s Cement and Clinker Export Market, Abdolreza Sheikhan. Clinker exports slipped by almost two per cent but cement exports advanced by 17 per cent when compared with the equivalent period in the previous year. Output from domestic cement plants increased 4.8 per cent YoY to 25.17Mta.

Armenia places import duty on Iranian cement

Armenia's parliament has approved a 14,000/t duty to be set on imported cement from Iran. A total of 85 law makers voted in favour of the duty with 16 voting against and three abstaining. The Armenia party also wanted a state duty on the import of clinker from Iran but this has not been put in place. Iran’s cement exports to Iraq suspended

Iranian cement exports to Iraq have been suspended, said Hamid Hosseini, secretary general of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports. He said Iran’s exports to Iraq have been suspended for more than a year due to dumping claims. Iranian export companies were not in possession of facts to prove the opposite, he said. “Thus, Iraq has first increased its fees for imported cement from Iran,” he noted. “Then imports of cement from Iran were periodically banned.”

Iran reports 4% growth in 11M cement exports

Iran has reported a four per cent YoY growth in cement exports at 12,652,000t in the first 11 months of the last Iranian year (21 March 2018-21 February 2019). However, the value of cement exports fell 14 per cent YoY to around US$398.4m, according to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA). Cement imports also declined during the period, decreasing 21 per cent YoY to around 39,600t.

New cement facility inaugurated in Iran

Monde Dashti Cement’s new 1.2Mta cement production unit has been inaugurated by Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, through a video conference, according to the Tehran Times.  The plant based in Bushehr province represents an investment of around IRR3.8trn (US$90.48m) and has created over 170 job opportunities.

Iran set to export over 14,000t of cement to Somalia

Over 14,000t of cement is set to be exported from Iran’s southern island of Qeshm to Somalia, according to Iran Daily. "A 14,500t cargo of bagged cement produced in Qeshm will be exported to Somalia on a Tanzanian ship named AMINA-H," said Pejman Bahrami, deputy head for maritime transport and port affairs, Qeshm Free Zone Organization.
